An Independence with No Freedom

Image
Happy Independence Day to another day without freedom for a woman to stay. It is again a horrid time where,  instead of schooling a man, a woman is asked to follow the rules again . The rules are still for us to walk in the dark and not to punish the man who commits a crime in broad daylight. What kind of system is it? Where the perpetrators are roaming free, while the family of the victim is finding a way to believe that  "this can't be it".  The institutions around the country are setting rules to secure a woman by curtailing her freedom to roam around when it is not even her fault.  A doctor on duty for 36 hours was subject to one of the worst crimes in human history. Yet, it is another story where society will say,  "Why did she wear that?" "Why was she out in the middle of the night?" "Why was she alone in a seminar hall at such a time? ". A woman committed to her job, saving people's lives, was deprived of it all. It is ironic that ...

Happy Dad's Day!

Image
Now, you all must be wondering why I wished "Happy Dads' Day" instead of "Happy Father's Day", well the reason is the quote above, "Any Man can be a father but it takes a special man to be a DAD". We all appreciate our mothers for the amazing things they do but the most under-appreciated member of our household is probably, our dad. It is not that they are under-appreciated, but rather the lack of realisation we have towards them. They are always present but we always focus on their absence, they have a secret way of showing their love, yet we focus on the criticisms they give us. While our mothers stand next to us in our fight, our dad is the shield to protect us from the harm. They are the ones who teach us to dream big and work for it. We always fail to appreciate our fathers, while we all can say all the emotional things to our mother, we fail to express it properly with our dad. Yes, our dad yells at us, but have we ever seen the regret they...

Mother: THE BEST JOB

Image
The other day, a friend sent me a reel in which the person said, " The world has become such a place that, one can say, I wanna be a lawyer, a doctor, an architect, but not 'I want to be a great mother' when of all the jobs it is one of the toughest. " This statement has become known as a feminist statement. A person not wanting to be a mother and have a family is, a feminist, while the true reason to have the whole movement was that, every woman irrespective of what she chooses to be in life, should be recognized as an equal member of the society. It is about giving the same opportunity and recognition. Amidst all that, somehow it has become about being aggressively competitive with men, trying to fight all, being greater than men, and  not being able to say that I want to be the best mother. When all it was ever about, was equal space irrespective of gender. A woman who says " I want to be the best mother ", is conceived to be weak or fragile, when actual...

Grown-up?

Image
Hello people! Yes, the Procrastinator of the Century is back. I have not stopped writing, there simply wasn't enough time to write everything I felt. However, today I am writing this because, while I was speaking to my childhood friend, a family member, ( I know you are smiling, now climb down cloud 9 ), there were quite a few things I realized.  You know when we were kids, we used to go near the window of our friend and yell " Tu khelne aa rahi hai kya? ", in that peak voice, with that scorching sun over our head. Everyone used to play cricket or were forced to play and after a game, you used to go with your friends to that nearby shop and buy a Rs. 2 worth of Pepsi, which held memories of a lifetime. After going home, you used to get the taunt " Pura din niche hee raho! Upar aayi hee kyu? ". No matter what day of summer vacations, your eyes used to open at 9 am, so that after eating breakfast and drinking milk, you could go down and spend time with those frien...

From Mumbai to Hyderabad✈️

Image
Ok! I retook a long break AGAIN! Without prior intimation AGAIN! Hear me out? Ok! So in these past 6 months, a lot has happened, and I mean A LOT! Some were small, some were big, some were amazing, and some were life-changing . (This blog is more of a diary entry than a blog) There were results, marriages, 18th birthdays and most of all, moving out of the place I have been living for the past 18 years. Yes! You read it right, I moved out of my hometown, my comfort place- Mumbai; in fact, at this very moment, I am writing my blog from my new home- Hyderabad. It was not easy, but I guess it was worth it. Let me tell you, all of this happened in one week. The calculations of packing, travelling, and meeting loved ones happened in a week. It was not until my birthday that I realised I was ACTUALLY moving out. It was not easy. There were phases where all I wanted to do was to run out of this place. There were sleepless nights, sad mornings and low-energy days; after all, I was in an a...

Dream in Mumbai

Image
Let's just correct this statement - "Dreams come true in Mumbai", I say "Mumbai is made of dreams." The thing is, I recently watched the new series "Modern Love in Mumbai" and that is when it hit me that, I am so lucky to be living in Mumbai.  If a person survives here, they can survive ANYWHERE! And I mean it.  Mumbaikars wake up at " Platform kramank teen var aaleli local Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus laa janari 4 vajatachi dheemi local aahe " (The train arrived on platform number 3 is the 04:00 am slow local train to CSMT.) This is Mumbai.  The city is fast and always works by the clock. From the way people eat to the way they live is what defines Mumbai. Yes, some people might call it crowded, busy or even rushed, but Mumbai still stands to be one of the best cities in World .  In Mumbai even a hawker can become an actor and even the top businessman can become a local, that is how this city works. No matter who you are? Even if y...

Unity in Diversity

Image
'Unity in diversity' a very common phrase with desperate need of being followed. During our school years the first chapter we ever learned was about, appreciating every single community. In fact as a kid we never even knew the different caste and communities in our own country, all we knew was to enjoy with the person who liked the same cartoon or the same food item. The difference we made was based on these choices. As a kid, we HATED 'karela' (bitter gourd) and did all sorts of drama to not have a single bite of it and the ones who liked it had to face a lot of judgement for their awful taste buds (no offence to people who like karela)... In fact I did that drama just yesterday. When we finally started to understand the things around, we started realizing the existence of various communities around us and tried to make differences based on the same.  But why? I mean why do we have to judge and group people based on the communities they belong to? Why can't we si...

A Pledge towards Women

Image
Pic credits: @radicalrakesh Happy Women's Day!!! Today I won't be preaching over the fact of ' how strong women are ', I would be writing on the fact of ' how you should respect one '. Today I will be speaking up for every woman on this planet who is barred from walking out at night, denied from wearing the clothes she likes and has to repress whatever she had/has been through, just because society will blame it back on her. Everyone speaks about women empowerment, but trust me no woman can ever be empowered if you do not treat her with respect, dignity and honour. Every person deserves it, not only women. She is a woman, not a bloody toy that you can play with whenever and however you want. A woman is stopped from doing a lot of things just because someone who cares about them is worried, "what will happen to her when she walks out that door". Every single person who has a woman in their lives is worried about them just because of the horrible hell ...

Grateful '21

Image
Well, here is the final year end blog. This year passed by just within a blink. I will not say that 2021 was the best year till date but it was not even the worst, you know! I am just grateful for a lot of things that have happened. From all the negatives to the positives, it all added some value to my life. So here is a thanks to 2021! So here we go...… A year passed by just within a click, Moments were cherished in a single blink. There were memories created worth a recollection, While there were incidents that made you feel dejection.  It wasn't a year to be titled perfect, But nor was it a year to regret. There were seconds of tears and minutes of joy, Times to gratify as well as annoy. To the people that became family, To a few who left. Some who deserted me, While some who supported. From late night fun with family, To early morning coffees for class. From meeting for just a second, And laughing for a lot of hours. Kudos to those friends who bore with my drama, Cheers to my f...

Innocence of Little Minds

Image
I have a lot of questions, so think and answer every single one of it, to yourself. How long has it been since you got back with those friends that you had when you were little kids? How long has it been since you have faced your fear with utmost strength? How long has it been since you got excited for your birthday? How long has it been that you were excited to try out something new? And how long has it been since you let that child inside your heart get out of the cage of maturity? I'll answer on behalf of each one you, the day you stopped living. As a child, each one of us knew how to live. From our own birthday to that uncle who once gave you a chocolate, we were equally excited for celebrations. We feared everything but the trust in a superior power and our parents kept us going. Whenever we failed we cried, but instantly got up when our grandpa bought us that piece of chocolate. We had exams but took it up as a fun game of "catching the partner", although the partne...

Mental Health Special

Image
Hey there! Long time no see, right? Sorry for 4 months of inactivity. I was kind off caught up with projects, exams and submission. Anyways, now that I am back, I just thought of covering up one of the most crucial topics in our life, Mental Health . Yes I know, you have read thousands of articles, millions of post and seen a lot of reels on it, BECAUSE IT IS THAT IMPORTANT. Did you know that your mental health is actually more important than your physical health? Yes even our physical health is necessary but mental fitness is CRUCIAL. The reason is that as long your mind is in a negative place, your body is going to have negative effects. You might yourself have observed, whenever you feel mentally drained, you are physically weak, because that is the strength of your brain on your entire body and thus, you have to pay a lot of attention to your mental health as much as you give importance to that undone project or work. I once heard it from somewhere that a lady was at stage 3 ...

What makes you unique?

Image
Haven't each one of you, reading this blog tried to fit into the crowd, once in your lifetime? Be honest with me! I think we all have tried to be the same as everyone at least once. Well, if you are still being a part of " fitting into the society " mindset, I think you should step out of it. In today's world everyone wishes to be one of the people in the crowd. When a person is inspired by someone, they try to replicate every single thing they do. In my opinion, I feel that if you are motivated by an individual, you should follow their path, the efforts they put in getting to that point , but copying their whole lifestyle is just senseless. If you do something like that you are not going to reach anywhere because no matter what you do there is no such thing as the second best.  If you try to be the same as everyone, then what is the point of creating you? The thing is that being similar as everyone is just boring, but if you bring out something different, a unique f...

One-Year Anniversary💕

Image
Jules Renard once said  "Writing is the best way to talk without being interrupted."  My blog completed it's one year of existence. Well, I totally agree I have not been consistent in posting my blogs and my apologies for it. But, that does not mean I cannot celebrate it. We all celebrate our birthday's every single year no matter what we did throughout that year. So, I thought even my first step of writing and publishing deserves a celebration.  You know what is the power of writing? We can create people, places, animals or anything we want. Writing has the power to bring those things to life which probably have never existed. In this world of our creativity we make things that we wish to have, the characters have that quality we never had. JK Rowling one of the greatest writer created the world of Harry Potter. A character which cannot exist in real life but people still believe in its existence because of her writing and the fact that Hollywood made a movie out of ...

Take a chill "SOCIETY"

Image
Hey 2021, How are you? Well....Considering that you are under tremendous amount of pressure. People have high expectations from you. So, here I am to mellow down this pressure.  2020 was one huge roller coaster... of which, we all were a part. People discovered their talents, like cooking, baking or even converting dialogues into music like what Yashraj Mukhate did. On the other hand, there were millions of people who were unemployed, some who were a victim of depression or were patients of Covid-19.... But what did we do? Trust me, nothing... We simply judged them, made fun of them, trolled them or just added on to their pressure. So here, we have a chance to stop judging people because however free spirited people are... Society is something we think of even before what our parents will think about something. This is not a point from one side but from both sides of a coin! Be it a boy or a girl, we all have something to say to each one of you. Here we go..... We are tired ...

You write, Your story:

Image
"You write your own own story" Well, this phrase is something we have all heard. In a year, if hundred movies are released at least one of them have used this phrase, millions of TEDx Talks have this particular statement used in it. Whenever, we get demotivated we are often inspired by this statement, it has the same meaning but is conveyed using a different choice of words. After all, it is such an important thing to remember.... But we cannot decide what is going to come ahead...Can we? Well, obviously not. We cannot predict what is going to come ahead but, we have the freedom to choose what can come next. We all have a choice, if you get an option between a luxurious life: with no happiness and a life, short of supplies but a lot of happiness... what will you choose? It depends on what you prioritize more, happiness or wealth. It is about your perspective in a situation. Whenever we do something, we first think about all the negative things. We talk as if all negativity i...

Self Love

Image
"To fall in love with yourself is the first secret to happiness" ~Robert Morley Let me first clear this out ' Self-love'  is NOT being ' Selfish ' nor does it mean that you are an ' Introvert '. It is extremely necessary to clear this out, because many of us have this misconception that these words mean the same. Selfish means, only thinking of your own gains, introvert means that you do not like crowd and you want to be left alone, and self love means that you love spending time with your own self. Well, you might love crowd or not, but even if you are alone you can be happy. Now being clear with all of these three concepts, let us simply focus on the term 'Self-Love'. We always have someone to talk to, every moment as we live in a society.  It can be your parents, best friends, partner, teacher or anyone. Now, as we have company all the time, we have never explored our inner self.  When we are alone, we all have a book or a show which ente...

The New Teacher: Covid 19

Image
This time I'm writing in hindi so please do give your comments: "Humne kya kuch nahi sikha, Par Corona ne hume sabh sikha diya. Jo har ek pal hum phone se chipke rehte the, Corona ne hume parivaar se juda dia. Kabhi papa ne cheating nahi ki, Lekin pato ke khel mein cheating karna sikha diya, Har pal akele jis memes pe haste the, Hume pure parivaar ke saath uss par hasna sikha diya. Akele baithe saare netflix ke movies dekha karte the, Aaj Corona ne woh parivaar ke saath milke dekhna sikha diya. Jin dosto se humne kabhi baath nahi ki, Corona ne unse bhi baath kara dia. Jin yaaro se hum har din milte the , Unse dur rehkar bhi, "Kuch dosto ke beech nahi badalta" sikha dia. Har shanivar ko mall jake maza karna bhulakar, Mummy- Papa ke saath nok-joke karna sikha diya. Theatre mein jakar naye film dekhna chuda kar, Unn bachpan ki purani baatho par hasna sikha diya hai. Ha yeh  chaubees(24) ghante ghar par baithna alag hai, Aur yeh bahut lamba chal raha hai. Par inn befizoo...

Ganpati 2020

Image
Ganesh Chaturthi 2020 "Ganpati Bappa Morya, Mangal Murti Morya" Since the past few months we have seen a major change in our living. The pandemic has clearly affected our lifestyle. So has, Ganesh Chaturthi been affected.  Being a Mumbaikar, I have never seen such a silent festive season. No dancing on Nashik dhol, no bursting of crackers or anything that used to happen. Every year, a week before Ganesh Chaturthi, we could see ganesh mandals all around. The streets were all illuminated with different colors of lights. All houses were busy with cleaning and decorating. Invitation to visit the houses were all sent out. We all friends used to sit together and plan to whose house should we visit first. Going around huge Ganapati Mandals and sneaking in...

Face your Fear

Face Your Fear What is fear? It's something you are scared off, it is something that becomes a set back in your life. Let me also tell you it is also one of your biggest reason for failure. Your fear is your weakness. We all are scared of something or the other, the only difference is, some of us just face it and some live with it. It is our choice.  Facing your fear is really difficult, but you can always get over it. Nothing is permanent, so are they. When it is the right time, you can face it. I won't say that you have to do it right now but take your time and get over it. Living with it makes you slow, breaks you apart but getting over it makes you strong, and I feel the second option is better. Your fear should be your strength, not a reason to weaken you. Let us face it, however grown we are, we do get afraid of some stuff that have haunted us in the past. But overcoming it was something we had never done. So today is the day, let's leave it behind and move ahead in ...

Dreams

Our Dreams Hello viewers, This time instead of a blog I have posted a poem so I request you all to check it out and definitely post your views in the comments section below.   Dream for me is something that we see in our sleep. As, rightly said it does not let us sleep. As a kid fairy, toys and cream was our dream, As we grow apartment, money and material gleam. Our innocent fairy lands change into mere greed; The need for material gains does not let us sleep. We started losing the innocence of our dreams, Now it's just us and our needs. Let us go back to the time where, we wanted to achieve. And dreamt for good and not for greed. Dreams are the ones that are inspiring, And not the ones that are tiring. Let's dream and do something that brings joy to the world, And live a life of love, laughter and fun. ~Tanisha
